Job Description of ISA coordinators

The responsibility of bringing international dimension to the school functioning was equally shared by both the co-coordinators and they worked together as a team. The rule followed by the ISA coordinator to achieve success was simply based on ‘Work Smart’. Both the coordinators worked with great passion and were efficiently able to involve the whole school including staff and students in their attempts to bring the‘International Policy’ of the school into practice. To achieve this, the coordinators initiated by giving an insight of ISA to all the students and teachers with forthcoming international school programs in the school premises. This was done during ‘special assemblies’ in the morning and dedicated classroom sessions. 

PREPARATION OF ISA ACTION PLAN 

All the teachers of the school were requested by the coordinators to plan activities which could lead to some International learning and integrate maximum number of subject areas with the contribution from all teachers keeping in mind the requirements aims and motives of ISA an action plan was prepared and submitted. 

EXECUTING THE ACTION PLAN 

ISA coordinators took the responsibility of communicating the details of activities to be done with the studentsto the concerned teachers. Teachers under the guidance of Principal and coordinators implemented the activities in a positive environment and the desired outcomes were achieved. At this step coordinators mostly worked as a guide or facilitator. 

COMPILING OF DOSSIER 

ISA coordinators collected/gathered all the evidences for all the activities and compiled them in the form of a dossier. The important information to be put in dossier was also reached and included. Coordinators prepared the coversheets and cover pages, Introduction etc. for all activities and finally the dossier was successfully submitted.
 
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAM 

ISA Coordinators shouldered the most important responsibility of preparing all staff members and students and convincing them to begin with an international approach in teaching learning process in their classrooms. For this, they executed the idea of International School Program which included many more International activities other than those stated in the ISA Action Plan. 

IMPLEMENTING INTERNATIONAL POLICY 

The International Policy was framed after taking inputs from the students council, staff members and the school management. The ISA Coordinators had the major responsibility of implementing the newly formulated ‘International Policy’ in the school.

• The coordinators organized different activities based on International approach which included International Exhibition in school, Class decoration on International themes, Display boards in foreign languages etc. which were not a part of ISA Action Plan.
• The coordinators arranged and prepared students for Face to Faith Video Conferencing sessions.
• The coordinators worked towards organizing different exchange programs and arranging activities to make such exchange programs a useful learning experience.
• The coordinators selected some students to form a Students’ Council for looking after the International Work being taken up in the school.
• The coordinators also had the responsibility of uploading the report of all additional International Activities at the blog: ‘www.learninginternationally.blogspot.com’.

ISA Coordinators at D.A.V. Public School, Khera Khurd, Delhi basically shared all the responsibilities related to popularizing, planning, implementing and compiling all activities based on an International approach which took place in school during last session. The coordinators worked under the guidance of Principal, Ms. Monika Mehan to popularize ISA in the school premises through International School Program. These efforts have reaped rich benefits for the DAV Khera Khurd Community. By sowing the seeds of International learning in the school and nurturing it into a colorful garden curriculum, we are now ready to bask in its fragrance. 

We are sure that through education and exchange, we can become better collaborators and partners with our fellow citizens at the global level.
 
We are hopeful that we will be able to develop a mutually beneficial global culture that respects diversity and promotes peace, brotherhood, and sustainable development in this world.

Journey of School through ISA

WORK SMART – AN INITIATIVE TO SUCCESS 

DAV Public School, Khera Khurd is always eager to grab the opportunities which provide an environment that enables its students and staff to groom themselves in all the spheresof life and develop into confident and dynamic human beings. To accomplish this aim, D.A.V. Public School, Khera Khurd, decided to take an initiative in the form of International School Award. Two faculty members appointed as Co-coordinators for all aspects of work related to ISA activities are: Ms. RACHITA GUPTA, TGT (SCIENCE) & Ms. MONIKA JAWA, TGT (ENGLISH)
 
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAM 

The School introduced a new program called International School Program into the curriculum. The object of this program was to implement the new ‘International Policy’ of the school by making changes in the curriculum to facilitate exposure and collaboration at international level for students and their facilitators. A number of activities were planned under this program and they all were carried with students of all age groups at regular intervals during the session.

A blog ‘www.learninginternationally.blogspot.com’ was created to record and share the international work being done in school. The ISA Coordinators implemented the program in the following phases. 

ACTIVITIES THAT LED TO INTERNATIONAL LEARNING 

Various activities with international learning other than ISA Action Plan were planned and executed. A few are:-

• A DISPLAY BOARD with heading ‘LEARNING INTERNATIONALLY’ was prepared. Different words and sentences in different languages were displayed on it. e.g. Thank you, May I help you! etc.
• Charts were displayed in all the classes containing information about the assigned countries.
• HANDICRAFTS:The classes displayed the handicrafts items of different countries.

FACE TO FAITH

• Video conferences with schools in U.K. and Australia were conducted for students.
• Our students also attended the special day VCs e.g. UN Human Rights and Solidarity Day.
• Professional Development VCs were also attended by the teachers.
• The school also hosted a training program organized for teachers of DAV Schools who were interested in conducted the Face to Faith Video Conferencing programs in their schools.

SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

• Special events like Face to Faith teacher training workshops for teachers of other schools were organized at D.A.V. Public School, Khera Khurd, Delhi.
• The occasions like Republic Day were celebrated with an international touch.
• Exhibitions reflecting culture, life styles and history of different countries were organized where the Chief Guests and Parents were invited.

We believe that the potential power of combined talents between nations can greatly improve the amount of knowledge and possible solutions to the global problems. Through education and exchange, we can become better collaborators in the world that is fast shrinking into a global village.

         Plan and organise activities that foster ‘experiential learning’ and embed the learning process in the student’s heart and mind not just for school but for life.

          Sensitize the students and the residents of the villages about issues that affect us at a global level, like ‘global warming’, misuse of nuclear energy, pollution, deforestation and depletion of the ozone layer

·        

        Develop critical thinking skills that would enable them to find out the best solutions to these issues while incorporating a global vision for sustainable development.

·         

      Create a dynamic shift from superstitions and beliefs which discourage clear and futuristic thinking patterns.

·         

     Expose the students to a diverse range of activities and skills so that they may be able to discover their inherent qualities and nurture them while developing new need-based ones.

Writing a good Blog!

It’s always a good idea to remember that Face to Faith is your chance to teach other people around the world about your life and experiences! Part of the purpose of this site is to give you a voice that be heard around the world about the things that are important to you – so don’t waste the opportunity.

It doesn’t matter how long your blogs are; what’s important is that it is worth reading, and will show people the important ideas, strong feelings, powerful beliefs and key experiences that have made up your lives.

Please make sure that you always use your own words.  Material copied from elsewhere on the internet will be removed. 

What shall I write about?

Well, anything that is worth doing – so good topics might include –

• Your experiences of videoconferences.
• Descriptions of important things in your lives –
• The celebration of festivals (how do you and your family celebrate?)
• Visits to special places (particularly places of worship and pilgrimage)
• Family events (how do your family welcome new babies or celebrate weddings?)

Remember:

• That your readers may not know anything about your culture or faith, so put in lots of detail and explanations.
• To add photos and videos to show people what you are writing about.
• To include your own feelings (and possibly those of others that you’ve talked to) – make it personal! (A really good guideline is to think – “is this something that someone could find out from reading a book?” if not, you’re on the right lines)

Read proactively.

• When you read other people’s blogs make sure that you “favourite” the ones that you think are really good, so they become popular.  
• Write comments – praise what they’ve done, but ask for more detail as well – use them as the basis for starting discussions. If someone is writing about something that is interesting to you, then ask them for more!
